Eating for health does not need to be extreme:it is a matter of common sense and moderation.Here are some facts and advice on nutrition to use to gauge your own diet and see if there is any way you can make it healthier.
Lower Fat
Cut down on fried foods.
Choose larger portions of vegetables rather than extra helpings of fatty foods.
Cut the fat off meat and the skin of chicken.
Choose yogurt or fruit instead of rich puddings
Try semi-skimmed milk in sauces, or as a drink>
Lower Sugar
Gradually reduce the amount added to drinks.
Choose 'diet' versions of fizzy drinks.
Try unsweetened variety of breakfast cereals.
Lower Salt
Don't add salt automatically:taste first.
Use fresh herbs to add flavour to your cooking.
Keep tab on the amount of salty and pickled foods that you consume.
